Customer Question

hello i have a kawasaki mule kaf450 b1 1988 model i had previously talked to kenny o on here and i am not sure how to get to him again so at any rate i have replaced the cdi box with another cdi box that was from a different year and bike i also bought the wire harness i followed the directions to a tee and check and double checked all connections i also replaced the pick up coil i still have no spark, i have a starter relay which is bad so i turn on the key and use a screw driver to jump across the two connections to check for spark, what am i missing what other checks can i do? this thing is driving me crazy.

Hi this is Kenny, you need to get a relay in this, the way the new igniter is activated it requires voltage when the start motor is engaged.

Do you have a bad starter relay ?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
i have a bad starter relay and i was jumping across the starter selenoid to turn the motor over
Expert:  Kenny O. replied 7 months ago.

The new igniter needs to see voltage when you are engaging the starter motor from the ignition switch, it will not see voltage when jumping across the solenoid.

ok i am going to place an order for the relay it appears that they are real common and easily obtainable can we keep this question open until i receive it? if i put this on and i get spark at the plugs then we can end this and i will start a new one for additional questions is that ok with you? thanks
Expert:  Kenny O. replied 7 months ago.

Yes, no problem, we'll keep it open, I will not click the "rate" button until you get back to me and then once we get spark, in the mean time why did you replace the pick-up coil ?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
ok thanks kenny and at some point in time if you know you could let me know how to ask a question to you, i put your name out there in hopes that you would see it but lets say 6 months from now i have another question and want it to get to you, thanks again for everything
