Hi

Welcome to JustAnswer

Please let me know how you found this out / what checks you have done

You may be aware that there was a product recall for gas tanks of 2004 models, but the problem was a pressure build-up inside the tanks

Does fuel exit if the filler cap is left open?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No fuel coming out if cap is open so far you have told me nothing. Fuel will not leave gas tank changed pit cock checked vacuum line& fuel line
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
far I am not impressed

Thanks for your patience in this matter, it is obviously difficult diagnosing problems remotely & I dont know how proficient a customer is or what they may have done already. So I need to ask questions which may seem obvious or unrelated

Presumably fuel escaped when changing the petcock & you have checked for blockages

Does fuel escape with tank in situ & fuel line removed?

Has she been laid-up for any length of time prior to this?

Have you checked or removed carb?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
fuel escaped no to last three questions
Expert:  Bike-Doc replied 1 year ago.

Have you tried applying a vacuum to the vacuum tube attached to petcock?

If that doesn't work there must be a blockage in the new petcock (which seems unlikely), blow petcock through with compressed air, if still no joy the petcock diaphragm is not working - take it back to shop where you bought it & demand a replacement

Sorry that I cant help further

I will open this question up for a different expert to pick-up

If Ive understood everything then I can well understand your frustration

Good Luck

the petcock must be in the ON or RES positions and vacuum applied to the vacuum port on the back side of the petcock.

to test, remove the fuel line, turn the petcock to ON (mostly full tank) or RES (almost empty tank and crank the starter.

fuel should flow from the petcock.

if not, install a vacuum test pump to the petcock, turn the petcock on (as above) and apply 20" vacuum with teh test pump. again, fuel should flow.

let me know if you need more help.

IF you have fuel in the float bowl, you probably have a carb problem.

if there is NO fuel in the float bowl, you have a petcock/fuel delivery problem.
