i have a 1997 hd sportster 883 that is leaking oil from clutch cable at adjustment point

you need to remove the clutch cable and replace the O-ring at the primary cover.

Not leaking there leaking at adjustment part of cable

the only way oil can get up there is if your transmission vent is restricted and the transmission is trying to breather through the clutch cable.

the transmission vent is in the rear of the crankcase, between the two upper rear mounting bolts.

you need to find and correct the restriction in the vent.
