Customer Question

Hi Jeff,
The rear cyl hestates and sputters just off idle making it difficult for a smooth start from stoplights.
Also my new starter, solenoid, and starter drive gear grind a lot. My old starter did the same but not as bad.

Hi and welcome back to JustAnswer,
Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...
Initially, a hesitation would most likely point to a lean mix. To confirm, check the burn color of the rear sparkplug. If too light almost whitish, then the lean mix is confirm. If so, foremost to check would be for a potential air leak at its airbox, air filter/element and particularly the carb intake rubber/boot.
Please post back results / observations of the above once thoroughly checked.
The alternative is a carb issue.
