Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, check or better yet, temporarily disconnect the CDI's black wire and try again. Also check the fuses and circuit breaker(s).
Still, possible suspects with the battery polarity reversal would be:
  • • stator and/or exciter coils & CDI (least likely);
  • • regulator (likely);
  • • rev limiter (most likely).

Please post back results / observations of the above once tried.
