my motorcycle is a honda 2009 1300 vtx with about 75k miles on it all original miles it has been backfiring more when i let of the throttle. today i was driving on the highway at about 85 mph when it had a couple of momentary power losses. it seemed to spudder out of the exhaust. Each time it did that i would down shift rev up engine seemed to take care of it. I am taking it to the shop today. it is carberated any ideas?

Hi, My name is***** you for letting me try and assist you with your problem.
It definitely sound like it has a lean fuel mixture.
That could be from an air leak in the intake somewhere or some debris in the carbs partially plugging up the main jets ocassionally.
It could be ethanol related also..
I would expect them to clean the carbs and replace intake gaskets to fix it.
