Customer Question

My GZ 250 starter rarely engages. It clicks at the relay but the starter rarely works. Do I need to replace starter or is it something else?

Wayne,
I'm interested in your answer. I've not gotten an answer from the other guy yet.
Thanks

Bob,
get a test light or multimeter and see if you have power to the
starter each time the relay clicks. If not then
check the relay. Both relay posts should have battery voltage
when you hit the starter and the relay clicks in.
If the starter is turning but no starting then the starter
one way clutch may be slipping.
If power gets to the starter but no action then check the
battery condition and the battery cables and grounds.
If it still won't spin the starter may need to be
checked. The brushes could be bad in it.
