My '97 Wave Runner cuts out @ full throttle. Starts right back up again and runs until you get into full throttle. Just had the oil tank replaced (cracked). Noticed a hose hanging from up behind the instrument panel. Any connection?
Optional Information: Year: 1997 Make: Yamaha Model: 1100 Already Tried: Put fresh gas in it??
Hello how are you
Give me a moment to gather some info for you
Hey Chris...stressing over an old Wave Runner. Has run great for 15 years.
When were the carbs last serviced?
Probably never?
Never noticed this hose hanging into the areaa where the gas and oil tanks are. Look slike it should be attached to something.
Its a vent line. Your issue is a common one. I will post a picture and a description of what happening as well as the fix
sounds great.
Your carbs have small strainers / filters in them. Over time these become clogged resulting in a lack of fuel flow into the engine. Symptoms are bogging. I remove them and throw em as far as i can. I also reccomend installing carb rebuild kits while your at it
The strainers i am refering to are part # XX in the pic below
Sounds like something I need my mechanic to do.
Its pretty involved and the carbs on that ski are difficult to get off.
If you have any further questions let me know. Please remember to rate my answer ok service or better so i can be compensated for my time...Thanks
If you would like to attempt the job yourself i can send you a link where you can download a manual
So the hose hanging in the area where the oil and gas tanks are located is doing what it is supposed to do?
Yes, as fuel is used up from the gas and oil tanks air must be allowed in
Noted and thanks.
You are welcome
