'95 roadking wont stay running if choke isn't pulled, will start and remain running while it is pulled???
Optional Information: Year: 1995 Make: harley Model: road king Engine: 80 Already Tried: checked carb, fuel petcock, air filter
Welcome. Thank you for choosing Just Answer.what can you tell me about when this started?Steve
i had it serviced due to loss of power and excessive popping when throttled, told me the diaphragm was torn, and was repaired. began having same probelms recentley, about 1week ago
it sounds more like an intake vacuum leak.you can test for that with the engine idling by spraying carb cleaner on the intake seals, vacuum lines, petcock and VOES.unless the bike was parked for an extended period with old gas in it, this is the most reasonable thing to check for.let me know if you need more help.Steve
thats the problem im running into, it will not idle without the choke pulled
whatever you have to do to get the bike to idle.the carb cleaner will get sucked into any vacuum leaks and you will know if you have any leaks immediately.let me know what you find.Steve
will that work even at high idle?
if you can't get it anywhere near a normal Idle what I would recommend is replacing the intake manifold seals and all vacuum tubing, especially if you don't when or if they were replaced previous to this.the petcock and VOES can then be tested with a vacuum test pump. pull around 25 inches of vacuum and see if it holds. if either exhibits signs of a vacuum leak it should be replaced as well.let me know if you need more help.Steve
