Thought battery was bad on my 2000 yzf r1 motorcycle because for the first time the lights dimmed and the the bike shut off. Bought NEW battery an drove about 15 miles and it did the same thing again

That could be just another bad battery, as sadly, often "new" batteries are. It could also be a charging system failure though and that would need diagnosed & addressed.
If you have a multi meter & a battery charger we can easily diagnose the problem so you can fix it or know what needs fixed.

In order to diagnose your issue you will need a multi meter. I'm not in any hurry.
