Welcome. Thank you for choosing Just Answer.

perform the following battery voltage measurements and let me know what you find:
ignition OFF?
Ignition ON?
with start button depressed?
with the engine at about 2,000 rpm?

let me know what you find.

It comes on then off, like it always does.

check your fuses. a visual inspection will not usually identify bad fuses.
since you don't have an ohm meter to verify if the installed fuses are good or bad, you should replace them.

without the ability to perform voltage measurements, this is all I can offer.
you may have a blown fuse to the speedo.
your ignition switch may be bad (common problem with Dynas and sportsters)
your battery may be bad.
your charging system may be bad.
you may have loose or bad battery cables.

one of these will most likely prove to be the cause of your problem.
