Good day and welcome to Just Answer. My name is XXXXX XXX I'd be happy to help you with your problem today.
Carbureted or injected model?
What ignition system are you running?
Do you have a multi meter?
carb
standard
is there a multi meter handy?
does standard mean stock?.
is there a power commander installed?
ok, let me know when you can & we'll get into solving it.
no meter handy
stock ignition
no power commander installed
ok, thanks. I order to diagnose your issue you will need to do some testing with a multi meter. can you get or borrow one?..
was the ignition module removed during the gear drive set up?
this work was done by a tech who works in his own shop, and is at a loss as to whats wrong ....the ignition module was not removed during install but he is looking at replacing it
ok, that will likely not be needed but is a slight possibility.
I think you likely just a bad wire somewhere, or bad connector, but using a multi meter we would test around to determine why there is no spark, instead of replacing expensive parts trying the same thing.
I think you have a bad cps or just a bad wire. A multi meter would certainly help us determine that.
he is going to try checking wires but is still not sure...what is a cps?
the crank position sensor
I will suggest that but would that just go...the bike ran perfect before the change was made.?
they do. I would not suggest anything other than using a multi meter to diagnose the issue. It sounds like your tech is playing guessing games with your wallet.
yes I am getting that,I now have to change the starter clutch also...I will suggest checking with the meter the cps and wiring and see how that goes...thanks,if that doesn't work ?
then we go through more testing.
thanks can i get back to you?
Your tech should be up to speed on how to troubleshoot this, if they are not, that concerns me with the fact that they just installed a gear drive set up on your bike.
Yes, when you accept I will send you a link to follow up with as needed.
