2000 glide alt. volt 12 while running. Have old service manual for 93 dyna. Is volt reg componient on front of engine. Assume tests are same for checking reg, stator, as for 93 dyna.
Optional Information: Year: 2000 Make: harley Model: electro-glide Engine: 98cc Already Tried: volt test 12volt on meter, no chg, all fuses good. plug under frame, asasume comes from stator. no voltage reading at 2000 rpm.
Welcome. Thank you for choosing Just Answer.your charging system is bad. I can help you determine if the problem is the stator, regulator or both.your system is similar to the '93 dyna. close enough for you to use your old book if you like.disconnect the regulator connector on the front of the engine and measure the resistance of the stator side terminals to ground. use the engine case as ground. use the highest resistance scale on the ohm meter. open or infinite readings indicate the stator is not grounded. any other resistance reading indicates a ground or a partial ground and the stator will have to be replaced.if you replace the stator, repeat the voltage test at 2,000 rpm. you should see around 14 vdc.if it's still low, replace the regulator and again....repeat the test at 2,000 rpm to verify the repair.let me know if you need more help.Steve
