Hello, I have a 2001 Yamaha Vino classic. I had carb rebuilt around 30 hours ago, then it sat without starting for around a year in Florida. Now seems like it isn;t getting enough gas to start. First crank it sounds like it might go, thereafter no gas. Is it the filter? Gs shut off valve , fuel pump petcock? There doesn't seem to be an obstruction in the gas line. Thanks!
Optional Information: Year: 2001 Make: yamaha Model: vino classic Engine: 49cc Already Tried: took apart carb, took apart fuel petcock
since it sat for a year it sounds like it is time for another carb clean. the fuel that is being used today is low quality and it can gum up a carb in a month. so setting for a year the most common thing would be a carb clean.
yes they have a filter or screen in the fuel tank. it is a vacuum controlled fuel petcock
Experience: Yamaha Gold, Suzuki Gold, Honda Bronze, Polaris Bronze, BRP
yes but how do you explaint the fuel starvation on second crank and after? Like its notgetting fuel?
could be the auto choke is letting a very small amount of fuel through in to the cylinder. did you pull the spark plug to see if oily, wet or dry?Jeff Policky41035.7724986111
what would each mean? oily = getting oil, wet gas= gas getting through or dry = obvious?

yes you are correct. it will be some oil on the plug but really saturated is not good. on my Yamaha 50is cc scooter (same motor) if it set a couple of weeks the unit hard to start. I can get it started if i keep at it or add a teaspoon of to the cylinder through the spark plug hole and it will run then. my scooter has a bad check valve in the oil pump and oil is not a good fuel so when i add fuel it runs then. if you will run then stop when fuel is added to the cylinder the carb is plugged from old fuel.
