my 2002 buell blast backfired and now wont start.
Good day and welcome to Just Answer. My name is XXXXX XXXXX X'X be happy to help you with your problem today. You should start by confirming spark at the plug & that it is wet with fuel. I would plan on a new plug, cleaning the air filter & a complete carb service as it sounds like your pilot jet is closing off with varnish/sediment. Let me know if you have more questions.
so i need to put the fuel tank back on, reconnect fuel line, then i could check for spark. ive never cleaned a carb before, should i leave it to the pros or should i attempt myself?
i also want to change the oil, how would i go about that?
Sounds like the carb would be best left to an experienced tech. To check for spark you only need the engine turning over with the plug resting on the engine, I don't see the need to reassemble. To change your oil you'll need the bike running first as you need to warm it up before you drain the oil. Once it is warmed up removed the drain plug to drain the oil & spin off the filter. The new filter spins on & re-install the drain plug & fill with oil.
thank you vey much brian.
Thank you.
