I HAVE A 1985 HONDA SHADOW 750CC THAT I RECENTLY HAD CLUTCH PROBLEMS. I TOOK IT APART AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL FOR MY BIKE. IT DOESN'T WORK OR HAVE PRESSURE. WHAT'S WRONG? CAN YOU HELP ME? VICKIE LOCKLEAR OR GIBSON, NC.
Optional Information: Year: 1985Make: HondaYear (other): 1998Make (other): HARLEY DAVIDSON Model: SPORSTEREngine: 1200 CC Already Tried: BASICALLY, THIS INFORMATION IS FOR MY BROTHER ON THE SHADOW THAT I SOLD HIM A FEW YEARS AGO. HE LIVES IN MAGGIE VALLEY, NC AND HAS BEEN DOING THE REPAIR RECENTLY. CALLED ME FOR HELP. HE JUST SAID, " HE WAS MAKING A REPAIR ON THE CLUTCH THAT HAD WENT OUT, RECENTLY. HE HAD CHANGED THE FLUID AND BLED AS THE MANUAL TOLD HIM, BUT COULD NOT GET ANY PRESSURE TO RETURN. COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT HE DID WRONG, CONSIDERING HE DID EVERYTHING THE ORIGINAL MANUAL FOR THE BIKE SPECIFIED.
I would have to guess the outer pressure plate is not lined up with the clutch hub properly. The hub has splines and the pressure plate only fits correctly one way. It must interlock with the hub. If it doesn't then the clutch will not have any spring pressure against the plates and the hydrolic pushrod wount be long enough to reach. I would take a closer look at the clutch...
