You will need to remove the primary cover...and remove the starter jack shaft bolt...then the two bolts holding the startor in...and it should come out...( always unhook the battery cable before working on a startor )
Customer: replied 8 years ago.

are there seals or gaskets to worry about.

what should I tork the bolts to?

Expert:  Motorcycle Tech replied 8 years ago.
You will need an outer primary cover gasket ...and 1 QT of primary fluid... the primary cover bolts are TQ at 10 FT/Lbs ......Jack shaft bolt is 6 FT/LBs ....startor retaining bolts are 18 FT/Lbs
Customer: replied 8 years ago.

should I use a gasket sealer or adhesive on the outer primary cover gasket? Have I asked all the right question?

thank You Cavin

You can use a small amount of sealer to hold the gasket in place wile the cover is installed..... Sounds like your ready to go....good luck
