Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Offhand, the CDI would be the primary suspect. Unfortunately, since the CDI is a sealed unit, there is no way to check the internal parts of the CDI down to component level. The only way to confirm a faulty CDI is to verify that the external connections are performing normally. These includes:
  • supply coil (black/red);
  • pulser/trigger coil (blue/yellow);
  • ground (black);
  • IGN + 12 (brown);
  • ignition coil supply (white/blue);
  • engine stop (black/white).
If all of the above functions as they are designed to be, then it would be the CDI that has to be replaced.

Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Good luck and thank you for using JustAnswer.
