Hi Doug, we have a 2003 Montero Limited (LOVE it) with maybe 80K miles. It used to have a good oil leak going. We switched to 10W30 and the leak has "stopped" but oil consumption is very high. (could not find the cause of the leak) We have always done 3K/3month oil changes but we need to add oil at least monthly. With our warranty soon expiring we are concerned that we may be overlooking a bigger issue with the engine that should be covered under warranty. I have reviewed/printed old threads from this site regarding the three common causes of oil leaks (I think it was in the v6 engines), which is now in the hands of our mechanic. Just wondering if in general, high oil consumption could just be an element of this engine vs. being indicative of a bigger issue. We switched to the thicker oil over a year ago and have not had a leak since. Thanks. Jen
**switched to 10W30 from 40.
