My black plastic ignition knob broke on my 2009 outlander. I have the metal key and fob. It turns and the lights and radio come on but it stops and won't turn anymore to start the car. I'm scared to push much harder for fear of bending the key.

YES CAUSE SOMETHING BROKE AND CAN JAM THE SLOT , THE KEY SLOW IS VERY SMALL AND IF THE TEETH IS DAMAGE THERE NO WAY TO GET IT TO TURN

Expert:  trung do replied 4 months ago.

THE ONLY WAY TO TRY IS WHILE KEYINSIDE SHAKE IT VERY LIGHTY SEE IF IT ENGAGED

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Okay, will it work with a new black cap?
Expert:  trung do replied 4 months ago.

YOU CAN TRY AND REPLACE THE BLACK CAP BUT AS FAR AS I KNOW THE CAP JUST FOR TURNING NOT ENGAGING ANY KEY SLOT
