I have a 2008 Eclipse 4 cylinder. The electrical system goes off sporaticaly. The dashboard loses all power, then goes back on. What could be causing this?
JA: How long has this been going on?
Customer: A couple months
JA: Are you fixing your Eclipse yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I would like to, because it has 198,000 miles.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I have not done anything to it yet

Hi Im David, thanks for visiting the site. first thing you need to do is to check the connector that plugs into the alternator. remove it and check for corroision or moisture. if none found then inspect the connectors wiring for any chaffing or other noticeable damage. once you have done that let me know your results.

All tight. No corrosion. No wire issues visible.

ok, pull the cluster, remove the connectors and inspect them for any obvious sign of looseness, wallowed out pins. with the connectors reconnected and vehicle running do a wiggle test on the connectors to see if you can get the cluster light to act up.
