Customer Question

OMG! I was not expecting a live body this is awesome! Ok, so I turned the key in my 2002 Mitsubishi Montero LTD and the doggone radio and display screen stopped working. The overhead indoor lamps don't work and I can only lock my doors with the key in the ignition. I thought if i changed the radio fuse that would do it, but no. The old fuse wasn't even bad. Help
JA: Is the car in "Park" or "Neutral?" Do you know if your car has a "wheel lock" feature?
Customer: The car was in Park. Wheel lock? When I bought the car years ago they did not provide me with a wheel lock.
JA: Are you fixing your Montero yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I was starting my car after work to come home when this issue arose. I thought it would be an easy fix. Apparently not.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Um no. The air still works, the lights and signals still work just no interior lights come on and the display screen in the center/radio don't light up to come on

Sorry, it got dark and I was unable to check anything. Checked this morning and I don't know what voltage + your speaking of. There was only a fuse to one side of fuse #5.
Customer: replied 6 months ago.
I would guess when you say test the voltage you mean with some type of instrument?

There was only a fuse to one side of fuse #5.
??
.

Is there Fuse 5 located in the Under Hood Fuse Panel?
.

Yes...You would need a Test Light or DC Volt Meter..........otherwise, Replace the Fuse & see if the components work

let me know what you find

Customer: replied 6 months ago.
Under the hood in the fuse box according to the table, fuse location 5 is my engine control fuse. To the left of it is my power window fuse. Nothing is to the right of position 5. I don't own the instrument you speak of, I'll have to buy it. Sorry, I'm a woman who is familiar with oil changes and tune ups only.
