Mitsubishi Repair Problems? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Was it just the oil light came on, and then the engine shut down, in that order?
Or did it cut out, and then you noticed the oil light on?
Does it sound like the starter motor engages to try and turn the engine over?
The engine may have seized up, can you try to turn the engine by hand with a bar and socket?
Ok, you can turn the engine by hand, and feels about normal, but it won't crank from the starter, correct?
Ok, that doesn't sound good.
How much oil did you have to add?
What vehicle and year is your car?
What does the engine sound like when you try to start it?
Did it make an unusual noise prior to shutting down?
Can you get the vehicle scanned for codes?
A little unusual for the oil pressure lamp to come on, and then shut down the car.
Does the oil light go off while cranking now?
I would be very concerned if the oil light still stays on, we will then need to fit a mechanics oil pressure gauge to check the oil pump.
It could also be a fuel pump that caused the stoppage, and you have two concerns, or one of many things until some further testing is done.
Ok, that's a good start.
We need to check fuel pressure and spark.
Can we do this now?
Hopefully it is not a broken timing belt.
Ok, I'll be here tomorrow for you.
It's 1.45pm for me now in Australia.
