Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX: , I have a 95 Mitsubishi eclipse

Customer Question

Hi, I have a 95 Mitsubishi eclipse gsx that made a skipping noise and died. I pulled over and it started back up but immediately died after the RPMS fell. Now it will not start at all, crank over, or click.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

You may have a few different things going on.

It's possible that the engine controller isn't awake due t a loss of power or ground or an internal failure. Start by checking all fuses if you haven't already.

It sounds as if the battery may have died while driving due to the charging system not functioning. The battery light should have been on but I've had cases where the battery light didn't come on as intended.

The first thing I would recommend is trying a jump start (not always reliable), load testing this battery or swapping in a known good battery. If this does allow it to start then the charging system will need to be tested.

Charging issues are sometimes intermittent so it's possible that the alternator may be failing but will work again temporarily.
