Can i convert my brake shoes to disc brakes on my 2004 mitsubishi lancer
Country: Trinidad and TobagoMake: MitsubishiModel: LancerYear: 2004
Hi,Yes you can convert to disc brakes on this model, however it will require a decent amount of parts. Because of this it is best to have a donor vehicle available to take parts from, as replacing all the parts with new would be extremely expensive. In addition to the brake rotors, calipers and pads, you will also need the following parts:Backing platesParking brake shoes Parking brake cablesAll parking brake springs/mounting hardwareTube and brake hoses to calipersRear hubsAll of these parts are direct swaps, there is nothing 'special' needed to make any of it fit. The parking brake cables are a bit different at the brake between drum and disc models where you may be able to adapt them to work... best to replace with the proper parts though and make it a direct fit.Be aware that if you have an ABS equipped model this can cause issues with the braking in adverse conditions, as the ABS ecu is designed to expect a certain amount of brake action from the brake system that was originally installed and it can react unusually when you change the brake system effectiveness. Otherwise, no big deal, just swap all applicable parts and you are good to go.If you have any questions please just let me know.
