Still having problem as previously discussed (and still no working solution yet from multiple Mitsubishi o/l mechanics), only now in mid-summer problems is even worse. Shut off hot engine after long city usage, wait ten minutes with eclipse in direct sun, and restart engine......then after restart, a loud sucking noise comes from rear of car (gas cap on or off has no effect). Engine then studders with a very low, erratic idle (and even kills if A/C is on). Interestingly, if engine is shut off (with ignition key) when sucking noise is heard, the engine stops but the sucking noise from rear of car continues for several seconds before slowly dying out. Sounds like some sort of vacuum leak through an open vent (?vent solenoid) near the gas tank. No Ck Engine codes at all thrown. Funny thing is that hot engine shutdown and immediate restart never triggers the problem. Only occurs in mid-summer and after about a 10 minute engine shut-off. Engine and eclipse otherwise functioning perfectly. Any solutions out there...Alpha-cssm41089.8722346065

Yes. I've been waiting since yesterday and have yet had no replies at all. If you will please check my old questions history you will see that JustAnswer has been very helpful to me in the past for other minor problems with my 2004 eclipse (I've paid for several answers at $18 each. However, the present minor problem has been ongoing for over a year and slowly worsening, with no useful information having been provided. Importantly, none of the mitsubishi experts I've spoken with regarding this problems appear to be true experts at all, as my own mechanical knowledge base and Eclipse factory shop manual insights have proven more useful than JustAnswer on this issue. The current problem, while minor, is vexing and several local mechanics in my hometown are clueless as to its origin (I've already replaced the fuel pump/filter and the temperature sensor, and had the fuel pressure regulator and the EGR system checked......no abnormalities were found).
I am quite convinced that the sound coming from my tank is the sound of air being drawn by vacuum through liquid (i.e. gasoline) as it continues for several seconds after the engine is shut off, thus it can't be the fuel pump which is shut off. I feel certain that the problem is somehow related to the function of either the evaporative emission ventilation solenoid near the tank (but the sound does not come from that solenoid), or the evaporative emission purge solenoid near the engine (but no codes are being thrown at all). Also, I suspect the sound is actually emminating from the vapor cannister itself, suggesting that liquid gasoline is in the vapor cannister with air being drawn through it. Perhaps this has derived from my compulsive habit of overfilling of the gas tank at each fillup. I really need a Mitsubishi expert with solid experience dealing with the evaporative emissions system of the eclipse. Insights would be most appreciated and reimbursed accordingly.
It is now Saturday, June 30th, 5PM, eight hours after the request above......still no reply from anyone, despite further information provided by me in my response reply of 9:55AM today. Still waiting.
Clearly this website is bogus and useless. No reply from anyone after my fees were mistakenly paid in advance by PayPal. Seems there are never any real Mitsubishi experts within your group to begin with. I will be filing a complaint with PayPal in the hopes that they will no longer provide services to this scam operation.
