I have a Mitsubishi Challanger 1996. It has an srs light on. I have a global scanner and the fault code that it comes up with is 26.0 PT Squib connector. We have replaced the clock spring thinking that this was the cause of the fault. However the code we still cannot erase. If we unplug the clock spring the code 28 comes up. I have looked under the driver seat and unplugged the plug there but it has no effect on the code. Can not see the plug under the passenger seat. Is there anywhere else we can check or do, or is the best thing to take it to a Mitsi dealer for them to plug it into their computer?
Country: New ZealandMake: MitsubishiModel: ChallengerYear: 1996 Already Tried: WE could at first erase the code but now we cannot. We have changed the clock spring. Made no difference. We have unplugged the plug under the drivers seat and plugged it in again. Can't see a plug under the passenger seat. Found two plugs in the engine bay, one on each side of the engine but these had no effect on the code and came up with other codes which we could erase.

Name is XXXXX XXXXX i will assist you the best i can, please Only accept if you are happy with my answer. The code 26 is the Driver's seat belt pre-tensioner (squib) system fault 1 (Short circuit between terminals of the squib circuit). This DTC is set if there is abnormal resistance between the input terminals of the driver's seat belt pre-tensioner (squib). However, if no DTC reset, the SRS warning light will be switched off (DTC will be retained).•Improper engaged connector or defective short spring*•Short circuit between the driver's seat belt pre-tensioner (squib) circuit terminals•Damaged connector(s)•Malfunction of the SRS-ECUPlease remember to only rate my answer when you are 100% satisfied. Thanks for this. Not sure if we have fixed the problem. But we have checked the plug under the drivers seat. Played around with the seat. Then tried to erase the code with the scan tool. This time it work and it has stayed off. Your advise will help if this code comes back we know were to check again. Thanks.
Than you and all the best . Kind regards Greg
