hi i just bought a 2001 eclipse with the 3.0 and automatictranny the car sounds good but it will not move there is a small clicking noise in the front by tranny is it possible that torqeconverter bolts came out ? the tranny was replaced a couple of years ago
the car does not go in reverse or forward and the tranny leval is full
i hauled it on a trailer and would like to fix it for my son the owner said the trany has went bad twice in five years i was hoping there was another problem that would cause this before i buy a tranny
yes
I was told a computer could cause this problem or maybe torqe converter bolts fell out
I had to put a battery in the car and it started right up and engine sounds good but I heard this little noise ticking in the FRONT I THEN TRIED TO SEE IF THE CAR WOULD MOVE AT ALL AND IT will not the only light on is service engine soon
i have never owned a car like this but i thought reverse should at least work or slip but it acts like its in neutral in all gears
the tranny fluid is a little dark but did not smell burnt thats why i thought it might be something else
not running since july that could be very true its a ticking like hot exhaust
do they have a history being weak from factory ? i dont know if i should have it rebuilt or buy anotherone
I want it to last and if there is a way to build it stronger i will that may have took the new tranny out
it has 168204 on it for miles
so you think i should replace tranny and lines?
thank you very much this is first time chatting for me on line but it was helpfull
that great do i just contact factory closest to me
Recall 01V011001: Transaxle Oil Cooler Hose Defect Vehicle Description: Passenger vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. A hose was mis-manufactured and could weaken over time, which could result in leakage of the automatic transmission fluid. Fluid leakage from the cooler hoses can cause transaxle driveability problems and smoke if the oil contacts the front exhaust pipe. Dealers will replace the hose assembly for the automatic transmission oil cooler. Owner notification mailing will be phased over a five-month period starting March 26, through July 23, 2001. Owners who take their vehicles to anauthorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Mitsubishi at 1-800-222-0037. Also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Auto Safety Hotline at 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236). 41041.1765266204
