How to adjust air con drive belt on 3.5 litre NJ Pajero.
Country: AustraliaMake: Mitsubishi PajeroModel: NJYear: 1998Engine: 3.5 L Already Tried: Don't know how to slacken the adjustment to get the new belt on.
Hi,In between the compressor and the crank shaft you should see a smaller pulley (About 60mm) which holds tension on the belt.In the center of the pulley will be a small set nut (in green below). Loosen this nut until you can turn it by hand, but do not remove it.With the center set nut loose, then loosen the adjuster bolt (in blue below) pointing up from behind the pulley. As you loosen it, the pulley will slide down, removing tension from the belt until you can slide the belt off the pulley. For installation, put the belt over the crank shaft first, then the AC compressor, then the adjuster pulley. Then tighten the adjuster bolt until sufficient tension is on the belt, and then tighten the set nut locking the pulley into position.
