I was advised that my mother (widowed) may be eligible for

Customer Question

I was advised that my mother (widowed) may be eligible for VA benefits since my dad was a WWII vet. She is bedridden and at home now and I'm her sole caretaker. She has been on hospice since 5/17/15. What would she be able to receive for assistance?
JA: Have you talked to anyone in the chain of command about this?
Customer: No
Is it best to go through the VA if my mom is eligible or will SS have anything to do with her assistance?

I am sorry to hear this.

She should be eligible for both VA and social security benefits. Has she applied for either of them?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
SS does pay her a little. She had been a state worker, every time she gets an increase SS comes in and takes more away. Have not applied for VA, not sure what to application is needed, can you direct me?
