My son was deployed for training to Michigan. He wanted to give his fiancee his power of attorney, something he did when he went off to Basic training, however when he requested this service a PO1 (stationed at Joint Base Pearl Harbor - Hickam) refused to allow him and her to see the JAG officer. Her comment was, his fiancee was someone who is attempting to take advantage of him (an Airman). When asked to see the JAG anyway, she responded that the JAG relies on her recommendation, therefore he would not complete a POA for my son. What recourse does my son have?

Thanks for the chance to help. I am an attorney with over 12 years military law experience.Wow...that sounds a bit crazy. Seriously...it is not the 1st Class Petty Officer who gets to make this call. What recourse?I would request Mast.I would request to speak to the Commanding Officer.I would expect the Commander to counsel the First Class on boundaries...seems they do not understand the limits of their authority. Then I would request to see JAG to execute that POA.psimmons41100.9435480671
