I am a reservist in the military and recently received a misdemeanor for theft. I would like to know what this means for my security clearance, which is a secret, and my career as a whole, as well as my chances of being mobilized

Thanks for the chance to help. I am an attorney with over 12 years military law experience.Theft is a crime of "moral turpitude" so that can cause the adjudicating authority (for example DONCAF) to pull the clearance, at least temporarily. And your unit could take steps to separate you for this misconduct. That said, since this was a misdemeanor, I would not expect them to automatically process you out unless you have a history of other problems. The final say on this would rest with your battalion or squadron commander.
