Can a Company or Business fire a Honorably Discharged Veteran with a Expeditionary Medal with out even ever getting a write up?
Optional Information: State/Country relating to question: Utah Already Tried: Attorneys.
Thanks for the chance to help. I am an attorney with over 12 years military law experience. However, I am sorry to have to bear bad news. Utah is an "at will" state for employment law purposes. There is no specific protections for veterans. As an "at will" employee, the employer can fire you for no reason at all. Or they can fire you for "cause" (if you do something in violation of company policy or the law). The one thing that they can not do is fire for a "bad reason".Now, a bad reason would be if they fired you based on your race, your gender, your religion, your age (if your over 40), disability, or marital status. But again, the status as a veteran does not give you any additional rights. Again, sorry to have to bear bad news
