if im getting a general discharge how long will it take befor i get sent home?

That really depends on the motivation level of the command. I used to be able to process a separation, from beginning to end, in about 30 days (assuming that decision had already been made and the underlying paperwork that supported the separation was already done).

That being said, I've seen them take 6 months too....all dependent upon the motivation of the commander to get the separation done.

Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX are doing that is there anything i can do to speed up the process? Id rather be home with my kids since im a single father

Regrettably, there is not much that you can do to compel a faster process. You can ask for it and give your reasoning. You can perhaps get the post chaplain on your side, but it is ultimately up to the commander.
