Try moving the saved folder out of this location

Close all Office products

Go to /Users/username/Library/Saved Application State

Move the saved application folder out of that location

Launch Office again

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Expert:  Josh replied 1 year ago.

Did you remove this?

~/Library/Saved Application State/com.microsoft.Word.savedState

Have you uninstalled and install Office again?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no, i have not.
Expert:  Josh replied 1 year ago.

I would suggest that you try that as the next step -- Uninstall, restart your computer, install again

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
unfortunately, i do not have the ms office to reinstall.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
FYI - i created another user account and the application works fine. looking at various web search, it seems to indicated a bad user preference (plist), etc., but i thought i removed all of them. The computer has 1 main account, which is the account that cannot open any of the office products because of this error. the test account which i created doesn't have this problem.

I am going to take my computer to the store to get this resolved. Thank you. Please do not charge me.
Expert:  Josh replied 1 year ago.

My apologies -- I was away for lunch. Would you like to continue?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No. I am just going to take this computer back to the store and have them fix this problem or give me a new install. I do not have any of the installation materials.
Expert:  Josh replied 1 year ago.

Okay - thank you for letting me know.
