Windows File > Open gives error "This feature is not currently installed. Would you like to install it now?" Picture:

Any way to make this error go away without an install CD?

Happens sometimes, but not always, when I click on "My Places" (left column) of file open dialog box. Clicking "No" it just goes away and everything works normally.

Don't have an install CD, though I could get one.
Thank you for your question, my name is Richard.

Can you tell me which version of Windows you are running please?

Thank you

Oops! 7 Home Premium (6.1 Build 7601 SP1) Apologies for leaving that out.

No problem!

Can you close all programs.

Click Start, Control Panel, Programs, Uninstall a Program.

Click on Office, click Change, then repair.

complete this, restart the computer and tell me if it still gives you this error please.

My question in brief was "can I fix with no install CD?"

It appears your answer is "no."

Because I've misplaced the install CD after a move, I can't do a repair (Windows requests the CD to do a repair).

Unless you have another suggestion, I'll keep unpacking until I track down the CD :-)

Slight alteration Dave, the Disk is not always needed for the repair, so this was the first step to do, if it could do the repair without the disk.

As you now see it cannot, so you will need the disk sorry.

Thanks for the heads up, Richard! Hadn't run into not needing the disk before, so I tried it requests disk :-(

We can only try Dave.

Let me know if when finding the disk, you have any problems please.
