Excel does not immediately launch on my computer when I click

Resolved Question:

Excel does not immediately launch on my computer when I click the icon of a file. I must first bring up excel and then open the file from excel. I am using Windows on a PC . Any ideas. I don't have this problem with Word or Powerpoint.

I get a message saying that there was a problem sending that command to the program, and excel does pop up (But not the file). So, it is not allowing the actual file to load.

I can get the installation CD later today and reinstall it. It was working fine for 2-3 years before this happened. Like I said, it is not happening on Word or Powerpoint, so it is just an excel issue.

click the office button


click the excel options button

go to advanced and then scroll down to the "General" section.

then click ok


to close all windows


close excel and restart it


see if that solves the problem
