Brandon M. :

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer! My name is XXXXX XXXXX I would be glad to assist you with your issue today. Please note that I am in eastern time (UTC -5:00) and am generally online between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM and some evenings between 7 PM and 11 PM.

Brandon M. :

Are you just doing =3200x80 in a cell?

Customer:

no...

Customer:

I typed

Customer:

No. I typed....=h103*3200 and it gave me the sum of 255,938, it should say 256,000

Brandon M. :

and h103 is exactly 80?

Brandon M. :

No rounding of decimals?

Brandon M. :

Because to get that number, the value of h103 would be 79.980625

Brandon M. :

Which, if you removed the decimals, would round up to 80

Customer:

I also have the cell with 3200 in it on E101, so I also tried...H103*E75...no rounding...I tried 1 decimal and 30

Brandon M. :

Try this =ROUND(H103)*3200

Customer:

sorry...I meant h103*e101

Customer:

can u remote into my computer?

Brandon M. :

Oops, I meant =ROUND(H103,0)*3200

Brandon M. :

Yes, I can. Just a sec.

Customer:

ill try that now....hold on, please don't leave.

Customer:

iT WORKED! BUT WHY?

Customer:

AND THANK YOU!

Brandon M. :

Because h103 isn't exactly 80. It is being rounded. Choose that cell and click the button near the font that looks like .0 -> .00

Brandon M. :

Press that a few times. You'll see the value is actually 79.980625

Brandon M. :

It is being rounded because the decimals are being removed

Customer:

AH HA! YOURE THE GREATEST!

Brandon M. :

But when you do calculations on the cell, it uses it's real value

Brandon M. :

No problem at all. Glad to help :)
