I have a spread sheet of music pieces in col. A in alphabetical

Customer Question

I have a spread sheet of music pieces in col. A in alphabetical order. To the right of each entry I have the composer, list of instruments required, etc.
In a second spread sheet I have the same data, but ordered by the composer in alphabetical order..
In a third spread sheet I have the same data, but ordered by instrumentation.
Is it possible to change data in the first spread sheet and have it simultaneously be changed in the other two spread sheets?

The-PC-Guy :

ok, if possible i will need the actual workbook

The-PC-Guy :

you can upload it to

The-PC-Guy :

www.wikisend.com

The-PC-Guy :

then after uploading

The-PC-Guy :

they give you a download link

The-PC-Guy :

paste that link her

The-PC-Guy :

here

Customer:

I use a MacBook Pro.

Customer:

I use a MacBook Pro. I go to the Excel spread sheet and look for an "upload" from some pull sown menu?

The-PC-Guy :

what version of excel do you have

The-PC-Guy :

2008? 2011? or 2013?

The-PC-Guy :

what version of excel do you have

The-PC-Guy :

?

The-PC-Guy :

when I say upload i mean

The-PC-Guy :

open this website in a new window in your browser

The-PC-Guy :

www.wikisend.com

The-PC-Guy :

on this website

The-PC-Guy :

is an upload button

Customer:

I have Excel 2011, version14.3.6 Wikisend.com/download/529504

The-PC-Guy :

ok

The-PC-Guy :

that version supports macros

The-PC-Guy :

my suggestion would be to have a button on the first sheet

The-PC-Guy :

that when you click on it

Customer:

I'm not sure if my answer was sent. I have Excel for Mac 2100, Version14.3.6 The Wikisend answer appears to be wikisend.com/down/529504.

The-PC-Guy :

it copies the information over to 2

The-PC-Guy :

are you seeing my resposes?

The-PC-Guy :

are you seeing what i type?

The-PC-Guy :

testing

The-PC-Guy :

1,2,3

Customer:

Yes

The-PC-Guy :

ok

The-PC-Guy :

just making sure

The-PC-Guy :

that version supports macros

6:15 PM

my suggestion would be to have a button on the first sheet

6:15 PM

that when you click on it, it copies the information over to other 2 sheets, then sorts it however you want it.

The-PC-Guy :

does this sound like it might work for you?

Customer:

I have not worked with Macros, but I'm sure I can figure it out. Thank you

The-PC-Guy :

i will create it for you

The-PC-Guy :

if you like

Customer:

Yes please.

The-PC-Guy :

ok so just to be sure

The-PC-Guy :

sheet 2 and 3 are blank right now

The-PC-Guy :

you want to take all of the data in sheet 1

The-PC-Guy :

copy to sheet 2 and 3

The-PC-Guy :

then on sheeet 2 sort by 2nd coloum

The-PC-Guy :

then in sheet 3 sort by 3rd colum?

Customer:

No, but I can create new blank sheets for the Macro. The data in the other two sheets is the same, just rearranged

The-PC-Guy :

yup

The-PC-Guy :

the idea would be

The-PC-Guy :

that you would change whatever values you wanted in sheet 1

The-PC-Guy :

then press a button

The-PC-Guy :

and the other 2 sheets would be created for you

The-PC-Guy :

if that sounds like it would work I will create it

Customer:

OK

The-PC-Guy :

alright give me a few minutes then

The-PC-Guy :

now you have it categorized

The-PC-Guy :

should I assume you want to sort each category

The-PC-Guy :

and keep them within their category

Customer:

Just: Title, Composer and instrumentation

The-PC-Guy :

ok

The-PC-Guy :

what is going to happen then

The-PC-Guy :

is that when the sort is applied

The-PC-Guy :

then the categories

The-PC-Guy :

will all go to the bottom

The-PC-Guy :

inotherwords it would all be jumbled together

The-PC-Guy :

but be sorted by those columns

The-PC-Guy :

i wanted to know if this was a problem before I got started

Customer:

We could leave out the headings because the instrumentation will tell us if it is solo, duet, trio, quartet,or choir music. this could prevent the jumble.

The-PC-Guy :

ok

The-PC-Guy :

i will delete those rows then

The-PC-Guy :

will make life a lot eaiser

Customer:

Could we make Instrumentation the first sort, and Title be a sub-sort within instrumentation?

The-PC-Guy :

yes

The-PC-Guy :

and same thing for composer

Customer:

great

The-PC-Guy :

just about done

The-PC-Guy :

im uploading it now

The-PC-Guy :

here we go

The-PC-Guy :

test it out

The-PC-Guy :

let me know if you have questions, problems

The-PC-Guy :

or bugs

The-PC-Guy :

otherwise

The-PC-Guy :

PLEASE RATE MY SERVICE WHEN READY

Customer:

Thank you very much. I will test it out, but I see the button and I'm sure all is well. How do I get back to you if I do find a problem?

The-PC-Guy :

you can bookmark this webpage

The-PC-Guy :

and get back to me here

The-PC-Guy :

even after you rate

The-PC-Guy :

you can still get back to me if you have a problem

The-PC-Guy :

you rate with the smiley faces at the bottom of your chat screen

Customer:

OK, done.
