This answer was rated:

I upgraded my computer to windows 8. How can I bring files from the same computer, I think the previous version of windows was windows 7, to windows 8"

Jason :

Hello and thank you for your question today. My name isXXXXX look forward to helping you today.

Jason :

Are you just needing help in copying files?

Jason :

I am not understanding fully. Is this two separate computers or did you upgrade one single computer?

Customer:

Jason - hello

Customer:

I upgraded one single computer only

Customer:

Regards XXXXX XXXXX koni

Jason :

Okay, thank you for the updtae.

Jason :

update.

Jason :

I am confused now.

Jason :

Which files do you need to "bring" over?

Jason :

The reason I am confused is because the files "should" still be there on the computer. I am just trying to understand so I can help you the best that I can.

Customer:

Files that were written on MS word such as my resume

Jason :

oh okay

Jason :

As of right now, do you have issues opening the files or do you have issues with locating the files?

Customer:

Locating the files first

Jason :

Okay.

Jason :

So what exactly caused the problem? You 'upgraded' to Windows 8 from Windows 7?

Customer:

Yes

Jason :

Thank you for the update.

May I please, start a remote screen sharing session with you so that I can better help you resolve this problem?

Customer:

Jason :

Thank you.

Jason :

It turns out that you erased the files in September of 2012.

Jason :

Keep in mind that when you continue below with my instructions and recover the files, you must choose to restore the files to a different drive or their may be data loss.

Try using the following free application to recover your data: http://download.cnet.com/Recuva/3000-2242_4-10753287.html

Using the above mentioned program, you can try and scan the drive to see if you can recover the files.

If the free program from above does not work, you may have to use a non-free program, similar to the one found at the following link: http://www.restorer-ultimate.com/download.shtml

If the files are indeed recoverable, the non-free program will definitely find and recover them for you.
