Customer Question

I have office 97, and everytime I save a program in excel, the program won't let me save the file as intended. Excel changes the name to something else like ACC73500, BE25C210 etc. How can I get Excel to quit doing this, and be normal. I restored my system to a earlier date, but that didn't cure the problem. Thanks, Craig

Thanks Craig

This can be caused by Hard Disk or Registry corruption, so I wish to rule this out first please.

do the following please

Download CC Cleaner (free) from here

CC Cleaner

(Click Download Latest Version on the top right)

Run it and let it scan and repair your registry.

Once done, restart the computer

Click Start, run, type in CMD and press enter

A black window will open.

Type in it

sfc /scannow

press enter and when it has completed, type in

chkdsk /f

Press enter.

It will complain the Volume is in use and to run on restart. Say YES and restart the computer

Than test if you have the problem and let me know please.
