Hi, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I'll be happy to help you today!
If you have run the diagnostics already and that didnt fix it, I think a repair install is in order
Just go to start and select control panel
Select uninstall a program
Highlight your version of Word or Office and select change up at the top
Repair will be one of the options available. Select that and let it run through the process.
That will go through and replace all important system files
Then try opening the documents again
Does this make sense?
If so give it a shot and let me know. All you have to do is reply for more assistance
Also please do remember to rate my answer once were done.
Ok will give it a go but assume the process will only effect Word (when you make reference to all importanat system files)?
Well all system files associated with that program
Sorry I should have clarified
Yes Word\Office will be all that is affected
Can only find 2007 Microsoft Office System on the control panel - will repair etc. effect any other office products e.g. Ex
It will effect them in that it will repair any issues with them but there sould be no risk of them getting damaged or messed up by this
Back in just a moment
OK. No problem the process is under way but looks as though it may take some time. I will let you know progress later as have to go out shortly.
Ok great. If you need to leave just let me know
And ofcourse if it fixes it please do rate my answer
Otherwise just reply
Got through the repair etc. many thanks for that. However, after a long reboot everything works fine except I still can't save a Word document. A second full diagnostic was run automatically via Microsoft providing a load of information I will need to assimilate but includes a SMART analysis suggesting the hard disc might fail!! Anyway I think you have done all you can so I may have to resort to a local expert to review my laptop asap.
You will get an excellent review as you seem to have suggested the right possible fix.
