Hi, I will assist,
I'm sorry about the issue you are having. You would need a converter program ,etc. Do you have windows xp, vista, or 7, or Mac computer? You have two options:
1. Convert the word file to pdf file at the website http://www.zamzar.com/
2. Download and install the free PrimoPDF program at the website http://primopdf.com/, then print the Word document (or print anything you want), then select the printer called PrimoPDF, then it will let you save it as a PDF file.
I have windows 7
OK, please see my two suggestions above.
when i used office starter, all I did was type in "save as" and it allowed me to save as to a PDF file. Why can't I do the same thing with my Office windows home program?
I'm sorry, office / word program does not have that feature
but using the primopdf program will work: http://primopdf.com/
Do I have to download it everytime I want to save a word file?
No, it's only a one time installation, and it let you convert anything you want to pdf, such as word file, excel file, picture file, etc.
Do I have to leave office windows word each time I want to convert a word file to PDF?
No, you don't. in word document, just print to the primopdf printer, and it will let you save as pdf
Does the word "printer" above mean I have to print or can I just save as PDF?
You have to print; but it's similar/quick.
I don't have a printer. There's got to be an easier way to just save as to a PDF file.
you do not need a printer at all
What I mean is that you just install the free PrimoPDF program
then it will show the "fake" printer called PrimoPDF
then when you print the document to the printer name called PrimoPDF printer, then it will save as pdf file.
OK, I will try it. Thanks
You're welcome. Can you download/install the PrimoPDF program now http://primopdf.com/? I'm staying here with you.
How is it going?
Also Office version 2010, and 2013 has built-in save as pdf option: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/save-as-pdf-HA010354239.aspx
For Office 2007, if you download the add-in "2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS", then you will have the save as pdf option:http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7
For Office 2003 and older versions, you would have to use the PrimoPDF program.
But in general, the primoPDF program allows you to convert any printable file, such as word, excel, picture, etc. to a pdf file.
It looks like you went away; please reply back and let me know the result when you are available. I will help further as needed. Thank you,
