I was working on an excel spreadsheet. foolishly didn't save when I shut down. Is there any way I can retrieve the file?

Hi there and welcome

It is not going to be likely sorry, but you can attempt this

Click Start, type in %temp% and press enter

Look there for any reference to an Excel file as it may be there.

If not, open excel

Than hold the power button on your computer until the computer turns off to "simulate" a crash

Start the computer and open Excel and see if you are presented with a recovery option

If not, I am really sorry but the file is not recoverable
