i am using excel 2010 and have a file linked to another. unfortunately the links do not stay linked. if i relink the file works, but when i open up the links are not working again.

It depends on which method you are using to link to the file. If you are using formulas the best way to fix the links is to open both files, the relink to the formulas to the source by typing an equal sign in the destination cell ad then navigating with your mouse to the source cell in the other file and hitting enter. Then save the file

i do understand how to fix the link when it is broken. What i want to know is how to make it so the link does not get broken. it appears that excel now looks to my local computer for the path instead of going to the network.
