This answer was rated:

I have an accounting system developed on XP what do I have to do to get it to Windows 7? It is written in Access 2007.

weshouck :

Hi, I can help answer your question.

weshouck :

As long as you install Access 2007 on Windows 7, you will be able to open the same Access file.

weshouck :

Access 2007 is compatible with Windows 7.

weshouck :

Your Operating System will change, but the ability to open Access documents will remain the same.

Customer:

Will it use the distributable version?

weshouck :

Yes. Once you have Windows 7,make sure Access 2007 or higher is installed and you will be fine.

Customer:

Do I just use the package program?

weshouck :

Yes, you can use the distributable program, you don't need to have Access 2007 installed on your system unless you want to update the main program.

weshouck :

If you use the distributed package, you will not have to install Access.

Customer:

even if 7 is 64 bit?

weshouck :

Windows 7 64-bit is not a problem. Applications that are packaged in 32-bit will still run on Windows 7 64-bit.

Customer:

Are you sending me an address where I can log in here and ask questions?

weshouck :

You just can't run a 64-bit application on a 32-bit Operating System.

weshouck :

You're application will work on Windows 7 just fine.

weshouck :

You will receive a link to this chat in your email.
