I have transfered .pst files from another laptop to this one

Customer Question

I have transfered .pst files from another laptop to this one (both have Outlook 2010 installed), I have imported all the emails onto Outlook on the new laptop, but cannot find the calender entries.

How do I import them?

Thanks

Mark.

You have to export calender file from outlook then import it to new machine.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

My hard drive on my old laptop died and I have to have the data recovered from it.

I wasn't able to export the file before the laptop crahsed, but have had the files recovered. Is it possible to import them? I have looked in the Outlook folder but cannot find any .ics files, only .pst.

Kind regards

You have to run your old laptop then follow the steps. I mean you have to export *.ics file then import it to your new computer. Normally you do not able to locate *.ics file.

File -> Save Calendar. It saves the file as .ics which is the standard iCalendar file format used by the iCal app.

Note that "Save Calendar" will rename all your appointments to "Busy" or "Tentative" with no explanation. A better way is to go to File -> Open -> Import Choose "Export to file" Export your calendar to a CSV file. It will prompt you for a date range. You can then go to your other calendar and Import the CSV file. This at least works for Google Calendar.

Here is another solution:
Exporting an Outlook Calendar
Click on the 'File' tab, select 'Open' and 'Import' to launch the Import/Export Wizard
Select 'Export to a file' option and click 'Next'.
Select 'Outlook Data File (.pst)' as the file type and click 'Next'.
Select the Calendar of your choice to export.
Press the 'Browse...' button and name your exported calendar file. Once you have named your file, click 'OK'. Select the option of choice. Additionally add a password.
Importing an Outlook calendar to Exchange Account
Click on the 'File' tab, select 'Open' and 'Import' to launch the Import/Export Wizard
Select 'Import from another program or file" and click next.
Select file type to import from: as "Outlook Data File (.pst)" and click 'Next'.
Browse for the .pst calendar file that was exported. Select your preferred option and click 'Next'.
Select the calendar to import into. It is best to have created a separate personal calendar in Exchange to direct the import to, rather than importing directly to your main calendar. Click 'Finish'.
