Hi I have a large Excel file which gives a message when opening

Hi I have a large Excel file which gives a message when opening "Too many different cell formats" and then crashes Excel. I cannot edit the file because it cannot be opened. Any ideas?

Hi, I've run into this issue many times. You'll need to download and install http://www.openoffice.org/download should be the first green download link on the top of that page.

Once installed open the excel file by right clicking on it and choose to "open with" then select the open office product.

This should open the excel file without all of the formating but leaving the data intact. You can then save the file in excel format and it should open properly in excel.

The issue you are having is that there is a formatting limit in excel nd your file has reached it. Opening in this product will remove that formatting allowing the file to open.
