Welcome to JustAnswer.com

My name is XXXXX XXXXX X am here to assist you.

Before we get started, could you tell me the applications specifically that are having " license errors"

And also, if you could relay word for word one of the specific error messages your getting especially with any 0x error codes, that would be helpful.

Thanks!

Customer replied334 days and 5 hours ago.

At the beginning of the installation process for Expression Web 4 Studio (after agreeing to the terms and conditions), I am prompted for the product key. I enter the key provided by Microsoft, and all I get is:

"Key is not valid. Verify and enter your product key again."

No error codes -- or any other information -- is provided.

The software was purchased via the Microsoft Store download, and customer service has verified that the key is valid. However, they then wanted to send me to tech support for further action -- at the rate of $250 per hour. The key was delivered by email.

Unfortunately, that's all I have.

Thanks.

You mentioned it was purchased via a Microsoft store download.. So what I would like to do is double check your key online.

Lets log into your microsoft store account and check on the key itself, just to make sure were using the same key you have listed in your account.

go to the microsoft store page

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/DisplayHomePage

Theres a border at the bottom of that page..

on that border, it says account, click account.

then click downloads_ product keys.

Is the key the same? If so.. Is this the first time you have installed expressions?? Have you installed it on other machines before, or installed it on this machine before?

it should show you a download link and a product key

Customer replied334 days and 5 hours ago.

Yes, the key is the same. This software has been installed on this machine only. I also have MS-Office 2007 and Expression Web 3 - both of which were moved to this system when I purchased it roughly 6 months ago.

I believe I had to re-install MS-Office, but it went fine. EW3, however, also gave me product key errors -- which is why I purchased EW4 Studio.

Got you.. So the product key errors are limited to only Expression web, and not to any other microsoft software?

Customer replied334 days and 5 hours ago.

At this time, yes -- unless you count EW3. MS gave me a patch so I could download EW4 (different key), but it did not include the other "studio" components: Design and Encoder.

Thanks.

Whoever you spoke to at Microsoft, didnt exactly do you justice.

Any licensiing errors or invalid key errors that happen with EW4 are fully covered and the support for t hem from the expression web team is supposed to be free.

Check the link below for verification of that.

Honestly, your best bet is to contact the support team for installation issues via the methods spoken of on that page. When you get intouch with microsoft support, if they try to charge you. Refer them to the link I just sent you and they shouldnt try to charge you for the support.

Most likely, the issue your having is an invalid key stored for Expressions web, removing the old registry info for both ew3 and ew4 would probably allw ew 4 to install correctly.

However, your key could have simply been invalidated within the microsoft activation database, thats also possible.

If you have any further questions let me know. And if you cant get microsoft to give you the free support your entitled to for this issue, then by all means send me an update and you and i can run through trying to clear out the faulted reg settings.

Please remember to rate the effectiveness of the answer given before you go, as thats the only way it shows whether or not I was able to help you. Remember that in some cases you cant always repair or solve the issue, and in those cases getting a correct answer to your question is the best solution possible. If you feel like leaving a one or two star rating please contact me first so I can try and resolve the issue in a more effective manner.

Thanks, D.Sandlin
