Resolved Question:

Hi, I cannot get Excel (Office 2010) to perform a "sumif" function properly. It is a very simple formula which interrogates a cell, if the value of the cell is "y", it is supposed to total the next three cells but is is only showing the value of the forst of the three cellsa in the range

Hi,

Could you paste your sumif formula here so I can check it

Customer: replied 4 years ago.
=SUMIF(D4,"y",E4:G4)
Expert:  John D replied 4 years ago.

Two things. First the parameters used in that sumif function are incorrect, and secondly sumif is the wrong function for what you are trying to achieve.

Here is the formula needed for this

=IF(D4="y",SUM(E4:G4),"")

Hope this is ok. Let me know if you have any questions
